CM for revolution to change face of UP

Advocating the need to have a revolution that can change the face of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that Samajwadi Party was committed to work for the welfare of poor and farmers and would play a decisive role in government formation post-lok sabha election.

"The samajwadi party will not forge any pre-poll alliance and contest the election alone. One thing is very clear that SP will play an important role after lok Sabha polls," Chief Minister told reporters in Ballia on Sunday. He said the party came to power with a resounding majority only because of its policies. "The government has lived up to the expectations of people in such a short span of like. We have fulfilled almost all the promises we had made during election campaign," he said and elaborated on the re-introduction of unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidyadhan schemes in the state.

"A canard is being spread against the Government. The media is not publishing our good work but giving a large space to unnecessary events," he said. Defending the decision to hold 'Saifai Mahotsava', he said it was a small fair but mediapersons got angry as extra passes were not given to them. Asking partymen to remain alert from electronic media, he said it used to highlight negative aspects and ignore positive ones of the government.

To a question regarding Aam Aadmi Party, he said SP men were real 'aam aadmi', wearing red cap and riding cycle. Describing as unfortunate the Muzaffarnagar riots, Yadav said the state government did whatever it could for rehabilitation of the victims. "NHRC has probed all aspects of the riots...An independent inquiry under Supreme Court directive is also underway," he said. On woes of cane farmers, Yadav said no sugar mill would be sold and private operators would be asked to operate them, if needed. To a query related to Rahul Gandhi, he said, "It's too early to make an assessment about him.
