Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his government was committed to ensuring financial empowerment of women in the rural sector to not only help in improving their status in the family but also in society.
Speaking at a function held here on Tuesday in which a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed digitally between the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission and the United National World Food Programme (UM-WFP), Yogi said that one woman from each family would be involved in self-help groups and the group would be provided financial help by the government.
“The Livelihood Mission is doing a commendable job. The ICDS in collaboration with Livelihood Mission has distributed food grains in 204 blocks in 18 districts. In future, we have plans to link all the blocks with this system,” the chief minister said.
The 18 districts which have been linked with Livelihood Mission are Aligarh, Ambedkarnagar, Auraiya, Baghpat, Banda, Chandauli, Etawah, Bijnor, Fatehpur, Gorakhpur, Kannauj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow, Mainpuri, Prayagraj, Sultanpur and Unnao.
“The Livelihood Mission will help over 3,000 self-help group women to become entrepreneurs. Every woman will get employment of more than 240 days in a year. They would be able to earn between Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000 per month. One year’s turnover of this project is expected to be over Rs 1200 crore,” the chief minister said.
He also interacted with the beneficiaries of many districts.
