CM directive to strictly enforce night curfew

In view of other states witnessing greater surge of fresh COVID-19 cases and reporting high test positivity rate, instructions have been issued to make people strictly abide by the rules of night curfew which will be effective after 10 pm.

“Uttar Pradesh has been maintaining control over the COVID-19 situation well and in view of rising cases in other states, we must not let our guard down. Everyone must follow Covid appropriate behaviour, ensure usage of masks and social distancing. The police should issue a warning ahead of time through hooters, so that the shops are closed by 10 pm. People should not roam on the streets unnecessarily,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said while issuing directives to senior officials at a high-level review meeting in Lucknow on Thursday.

On Thursday, 19 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported during the past 24 hours. With the recovery of 22 COVID-19 patients during the last 24 hours, the state has so far reported the recovery of more than 16.86 lakh patients.

A senior official said on Thursday, “Following an aggressive testing regime to tame the raging disease, Uttar Pradesh also became the only state to breach the 70 million test mark. Emerging as a leader in terms of conducting maximum tests, UP has so far tested more than 7.12 crore samples for the viral infection. With swift recovery of COVID-19 patients, the state’s recovery rate now stands at 98.6 per cent, the highest in the country. A better recovery rate is indicative of milder cases in the state and lower fatalities. The active caseload in Uttar Pradesh has declined to 342 from a high of over 3,10,783 cases in a span of a few months.”
