CM derides oppn for casting aspersion on recruitment process

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ridiculed the opposition parties in the Assembly on Friday for attempting to cast aspersions on the integrity of the government in recruitment against vacancies in various departments.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party government has developed a credible, transparent and accountable institutional mechanism for recruitment of police constables, teachers and staff in other government departments. During previous regimes, as soon as the advertisement for recruitment appeared, extortion from jobless youths started and presence of paper solver gangs around examinations centres had become common,” the Chief Minister said.

Yogi was responding to the issue raised by Bahujan Samaj Party member who charged that mismanagement and corruption had become the hallmark of recruitments by various agencies of the state government.

Assuring the youths of the state of conducting recruitments in the most transparent manner, Yogi asked the opposition to raise issues in the Assembly with solid evidences.

“If you have objective truth and facts then come to us and then if we fail to take action, you can hold us responsible for the lapses. If the opposition fails to prove irregularities then they should apologise in the House,” the Chief Minister.

“During the previous Samajwadi Party regime, extortion used to start as soon as advertisements for recruitment against vacancies in government departments appeared in newspapers. Persons lacking minimum qualification were appointed as Chairman of UP Public Service Commission and he was sacked on the orders of Supreme Court,” the Chief Minister reminded.

“All the recruitment agencies like UP Subordinate Service Commission, Police Recruitment Board, Secondary Education Commission and State Public Service Commission are independent and are working in a transparent manner. The government has no interference in their affairs. It is the discretion of the commission to select consultant/agency for conducting examinations and evaluation of answer sheets,” the Chief Minister said.

Assuring stern action against those indulging in irregularities, Yogi said, “If any instance is brought to the notice of the government, that officials involved in recruitment have done wrong, they will be dealt with iron hands.”

Referring to the recent resignation tendered by UP Subordinate Service Commission Chairman CB Paliwal, the Chief Minister said, “The Chairman resigned following differences with the Secretary of the Board.”
