CM challenges Centre on money given for poor farmers

Driving a hole in BJP leaders’ claim that Centre has given money for farmers’ relief and UP Government has not utilized that, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav asked where was that money and charged Modi Government of neglecting the plight of farmers. “I challenge the BJP leaders to come out with details of the money being given by Centre. Delivering “bhashan” (lecture) saying thousands of crore has been given is easy but facing the truth is very difficult. If Union Government has actually given that money where is it,” Yadav said in a function organized on Friday where he distributed cheque among the family members of those farmers whose crops were destroyed in unseasonal rains.

BJP leaders in their state executive meeting have claimed that UP Government has not distributed money which Centre has given to the state. BJP national president Amit Shah reiterated his party claim in a rally in Hapur where he said that Samajwadi Party Government is anti-farmer. “I am always asking people not to believe BJP leaders. They are very “chalu”. Their leader speak lie from their teeth. Giving bhashan is easy because there is no accountability but delivering result is difficult,” Yadav said.

Giving details about the relief operation carried out by his government he said that they have released over Rs 2000 crore to pay compensation to farmers. “The samajwadi Party has given Rs 7 lakh to the kin of the farmer who died due to shock because of crop loss. The Union Government should have given Rs 14 lakh but it gave just Rs 2.5 lakh as compensation,” Yadav said.

“I wrote many letters to the Prime Minister to release funds for the farmers. Netaji (Mulayam Singh yadav) raised this issue in lok Sabha. We asked for Rs 6600 crore as compensation but the centre released only Rs 227 crore so far. This is the fact and BJP leaders should admit it,” Chef Minister said. When asked about the on-going controversy over Food Park Chief Minister said his Government had given land to set up the same in Amethi in 2013. But Congress Government did not set up park nor thanked him for giving land, he said. “We had converted the land for commercial use but unfortunately the mega good park project was cancelled by the centre” Yadav said. The CM said that UP needs four mega food parks in the state and even land has been earmarked for the same in Mainpuri where the state government is setting up the park on its own. Another would come up in Jhansi soon.

Commenting on recent Supreme Court’s decision barring the use of photographs on Government advertisements, Yadav said that as the order has come from the Apex Court they are bound by this. “I request the Supreme Court to fix the dress code for us. It would be good for the politicians too,” he said. Chief Minister distributed Rs 3.71 crore among the farmers who lost their crops in rains. He declared that UP Government would set up maximum number of solar plants in Bundelkhand in near future.
