Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav called on Governor Ram Naik on Wednesday and is believed to have briefed him about the volatile political situation prevailing forthe last 38 days in Uttar Pradesh following his ouster from the post of state president of Samajwadi Party. The meeting lasted for around 30 minutes.
There were speculations that the CM presented a list of legislators supporting him but highly placed sources in the Raj Bhawan dismissed it saying that it was a courtesy call in which the CM and the Governor exchanged Diwali greetings.
“As it was a one-on-one meeting, it is believed that Yadav briefed the Governor about the political situation in the state. Please do not read much into this meeting,” the source said.
The meeting assumed importance as Akhilesh Yadav left for Raj Bhawan without concluding a meeting with his loyalists over the proposed Rath Yatra from November 3.
It is also believed that the CM might have discussed possibility of filling vacancies created after he sacked four ministers from his cabinet on October 23.
The Governor however said that whatever was happening in ruling Samajwadi Party family was their internal matter and there was no Constitutional crisis in the state.
“I am closely monitoring the developments and will do accordingly as per the requirement,” Naik said.
