CM attends the cremation of Sudesh Kumar

The cremation of martyr Sudhish Kumar was performed here with full state honours on Tuesday even though the family members earlier refused to go for the cremation till the arrival of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

After much perusal by the authorities and an assurance that CM would come later on, the family agreed for the cremation of  army jawan Sudhish Kumar, who was killed during the ceasefire violation by the Pakistan army at Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. CM had already announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 20 lakh for the family of martyr.

The last rights were performed at the native Pansukha village with people raising slogans against Pakistan and Pak PM Nawaj Sharif. However, the controversy broke out when Dharampal, the father of the martyr demanded that the CM should be present during the cremation otherwise they will not do it. Dharmpal alleged that if CM can go to Mathura for the cremation of the martyr then why he cannot come to Sambhal. Due to the demand the cremation was delayed for about six hours but after perusal, they agreed that CM will visit their village later on.

A jawan of Rajputana Rifles, Sudhish, was killed by a sharp shooter of the Pak army when he was patrolling on KDl post near the line of control. The martyr is survived by his young widow and his four month old daughter Sudhi while his younger brother Kapil too is in the army.  The family members too demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Indian army should bring 10 heads of Pakistani army in revenge of the killing of Sudhish. Sudhesh Kumar’s mother Santosh Kumari demanded a government job for the soldier’s widow. “If we get financial help we will ensure proper education of his four year-old daughter so that she too can join the army and serve the country”, Santosh Kumari said.
