CM assures adequate power supply by '16

Aware of the growing resentment among masses over the prevailing power crisis, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav  assured the people that by 2016, the Government would provide 22-24-hour power supply to cities and for 16-18 hours in villages.

Addressing his maiden post-parliamentary election rally at Kendriya Vidyalaya grounds at Mughalsarai in Chandauli district on Sunday, Yadav said if the BJP–led NDA Government gave sufficient power and coal for nearly one-and-half years to the state, then by 2016, UP would return all its borrowed power debts with interests and even more if the Centre demanded.

launching a scathing attack on the newly-formed Narendra Modi Government for the hike in diesel prices, Yadav cautioned people that they would see such more hikes in the coming months.

Earlier, the Chief Minister unveiled the statue of former freedom fighter and MlA Ganji Prasad and also paid floral tributes to him.  Referring to the results of the recent lok Sabha polls, Yadav encouraged the party workers saying they should not be disappointed or feel hopeless after losing the election and continue their fight against communalism.

He said the Samajwadi Party would not make any compromise with its ideologies and continue to follow the path of secularism. “The Samajwadi Party has lost the election but not its political will. Success  through communalism is easy and the path of secularism is difficult but we chose the latter,” he added.

Yadav said the SP was a democratic party which respected all sections of society. He pointed out that the party’s popularity had not declined in the recent polls because despite the tough contests the SP polled over 50 lakh more votes in the recent lok Sabha elections in comparison to previous election and this indicated that the party’s vote bank was still intact and the people were still supporting its ideology.

Yadav also flayed the BJP leaders for “believing most in tweets” and asked the people whether such tweets had any meaning for them.

The Chief Minister, who is also the SP state president, also hit out at the media saying that now he would have to be more alert in telling anything to news persons as what he said in Kanpur was presented in a wrong way.

However, Yadav said that SP would raise the issues of journalists so that equal salaries was paid to them as the news channels and newspapers were earning huge profits.

The function was attended by Tourism Minister Om Prakash Singh, SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary, Minister of State for PWD and Irrigation, Surendra Patel, former MP Ram Kishun Yadav, MlAs Manoj Kumar Singh alias Dablu and Poonam Sonkar and SP district president Baliram Yadav.
