Questioning as to what did the Gandhi family do for development of Rae Bareli and Amethi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath advised the opposition to shun negative politics and focus on development of the region instead.
“The Gandhi family has been representing Amethi and Rae Bareli for almost four decades now. The Congess chief should tell the people as what he and his family have done for the region,” Yogi told reporters in Gorakhpur where he participated in special function organized on occasion of Makar Sankranti on Monday.
Yogi said, “My advise to the entire opposition, particularly the national president of Congress, is that they should focus on politics of development.”
The Chief Minister was reacting to the first visit of Rahul Gandhi to his Parliamentary constituency - Amethi, after his elevation as national president of Congress.
“See the plight of Amethi which has been nursed by four generations of Nehru-Gandhi family. Had the Congress laid more focus on development, Amethi would not have languished,” he said.
The CM said that it was not only Rahul Gandhi even Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav should also not indulge in negative politics.
Yogi said, “What are SP workers doing these days. In Azamgarh and Hardoi, few people with Samajwadi Party links were arrested for their involvement in making spurious liquor.”
“Some SP workers even tried to vitiate the political atmosphere in lucknow by throwing rotten potato outside Vidhan Bhawan and Governor’s House. Why did they do it and what did they achieve,” he asked.
Two persons, including a Samajwadi Party worker, were arrested last week for allegedly dumping potatoes near Vidhan Bhawan and some other places in the VVIP zone to highlight the plight of potato growers.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesman Manish Shukla questioned as to why Rahul Gandhi did not meet party workers of his constituency which created a stampede like situation. “This is shameful that people who elected Rahul Gandhi to lok Sabha wanted to meet him and were shooed away,” Shukla said.
