CM asks ministers to stay away from maze of politics

Taking a tough stand against reports of some ministers taking undue interest in transfers, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked ministers to stay away from the maze of politics of transfer and foucs on the implementation of development schemes. The directives came before the state cabinet met in lucknow on Tuesday.

A highly-placed source told ‘The Pioneer’ that Yogi asked ministers to identify corrupt officers and take action against them. In a terse message, he asked the ministers not to give protection to corrupt officers.

“Chief Minister told ministers that the BJP Government was committed to giving clean and corruption-free administration. He asked them not to take any decision that might give a bad name to the government. Similarly, he instructed ministers not to protect any officer who was neck deep in corruption,” the source said.

Yogi chastised ministers and spoke for almost 30 minutes about their conduct and the feedback he got from Delhi. The CM was in Delhi for two days where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah.

last week, the PM had a meeting with MPs from Uttar Pradesh where they complained about non-performance of ministers and probably the CM conveyed the displeasure of BJP higher ups about his Government’s performance to ministers.

The CM also advised ministers not to take decisions like having a VIP lane in toll plazas which gave a bad name to the government. The Government on July 13, had ordered separate lane for MPs and legislators at Toll Plazas. Once the government started facing barbs on the issue, it withdrew the decision on Monday.

The source said that the CM also asked ministers to visit the flood-ravaged districts. The district in-charges should also visit other districts and spread the message of good work being done by the government.

“The CM has asked ministers to deliver. He reiterated that people have high expectations from this government and it should deliver. The CM specifically talked about PWD, Health Power, Education and Irrigation departments,” the source said.
