Upping up ante against reports of religions conversion in Agra Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that district officials have been asked to take strict action “as per Indian Constitution” to stop these illegal activities.
“There are some who want to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state. Directions have been issued to district officials to act as per statute,” Yadav told reporters here on Thursday.
He said we have identified the forces that are trying to flare up communal tension. In Mathura they had earlier vandalized Queen Victoria’s statue. They raked up the issue of love Jehad. These forces defamed state government on Budaun case but the truth has come to the fore now. People know what had happened and those forces now lie exposed,” he said.
On Sunday last, family members of at least 57 Muslim families were converted to Hindus at a ceremony ‘Purkhon ki ghar vapsi’, a mass conversion jointly organised by Dharma Jagran Samanvay Vibhag, an offshoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Bajrang Dal in Agra.
He skirted a question whether some political parties were gearing up for 2017 assembly elections but said that Government is working on developmental agenda. “Ours is the government that does not discriminate among people on caste and religious lines. We distributed laptops to all the students irrespective of caste and religion they belong to. There was no discrimination in distribution of Kanya Vidyadhan,” he said.
“Our government introduced 102 and 108 ambulance service. This is meant for all the people so that they can get better activities at the earliest,” he said and added: “I have asked Venkat Changawali to chalk out a strategy as how we can reduce the response time of police.”
Changawali has been appointed Advisor in the Department of Home.
Yadav said his government does not have time to delve in other issues. We are building bridges, ROBs, constructing roads and have no time to think about these divisive politics. “Our officials are confident enough to take action as per Indian Constitution,” he said.
