CM asks centre to give NOC for over bridge

With an aim to easing traffic on  the Ring Road, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked the Centre to give a 'no objection certificate' for the construction of an overbridge at Tedhi Puliya (Aliganj) bordering the fringes of the city.

"The UP government wants to construct the Tedhi Pulia overbridge from its resources to ease traffic flow on the Ring Road," Yadav said in a letter to Union Surface Transport minister Nitin Gadkari, the contents of which were released on Thursday.

In his letter, Yadav said that traffic at the Tedhi Puliya crossing (State Highway 24 A) is very dense. Over 60,000 vehicles pass through the crossing at peak hours. The traffic of National Highway 24 and NH 28 also pass through this road.

"Traffic snarls in this area is due to high traffic density. Since people face perennial traffic jams, teh UP government has decided to construct a four-lane over bridge. As the Right of Way (RoW) at that crossing is just 39 meter, I request the Surface Transport ministry to give permission to construct the overbridge at the crossing," Yadav said.

Yadav said that in 2015, the ministry had appointed a consultant to chart out a proposal who had carried out topographic survey and prepared a survey report which is yet to be finalised.

"In February, the  Ministry of Surface Transport sent a letter refusing a NOC saying that construction of over bridge would be carried out by the ministry itself. Since things are hardly moving, we request the Surface Transport ministry to give the NOC so that the UP government could set up the bridge from its own resources," Yadav said.
