Against the backdrop of cleanliness campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on  Monday asked SP workers to engage in ‘intellectual tactics’ to‘cleanse communal forces’.

“Sampradaiyik shaktiyon ki kaise safai ho hame dekhna hai. Ye chalu log hain. Buddhi daon lagayenge tabhi inse lad payenge (We have to see how to cleanse communal forces. They are cunning people. We can only fight with them, if we engage in intellectual tactics,” he said this addressing a gathering at the inaugural ceremony of a new teaching block at Ram Manohar lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMlIMS) in
the state capital on Monday.
Apparently referring to his nomination by Modi in cleanliness campaign, Akhilesh Yadav, without naming anyone, said that to divert from important issues like black money, unemployment, price-rise and implementation of its (BJP’s) manifesto, a debate has been started on cleanliness.
“There should be debate on core issues of black money, unemployment, price-rise and implementation of its manifesto as this will help the society only cleanliness campaign is not going to solve all the problems,” he said.
He added that Samajwadi Party had always favoured cleanliness and was already doing a lot in this regard in the state and also called attention to global warmning and other issues.
“It was SP which planted maximum number of trees in its regime. Parks in the name of lohia and Janeshwar Mishra in city is providing oxygene to opposition also,” Yadav quipped.
Akhilesh also took a dig at the saffron party over a waste-to-power plant constructed in the city at the initiative of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying the plant could not work due to lack of “quality waste”.
“When inquired about the non-functinoal plant, it was revealed by engineers that it could not run due to lack of quality waste. Can there be a waste with qualityIJ” he said.
He exhorted the party workers to popularise work done by the SP government. He said, “We have started work for Metro and will start it by end of the year 2016. We have also reduced VAT on cycles. We are ahead in working but lacked in promoting our good work. This an era of technology and we should also focus on highlighting what we are
doing.”
Besides criticising the central government he also assured the non teaching employees of RMlIMS to provide them salary at par with the non-teaching employees of SGPGIMS in the next financial year. It is noteworthy that the non-teaching employees of RMlIMS had been demanding to give them salary at par with their counterparts in SGPGIMS.
“The problems of the employees would be solved. The government is devoted to provide better medical facilities at the medical institutes. In this connection I have taken action against the concerned authorities at Agra Medical college where several irregularities were surfaced during my inspection,” CM added.
