Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, has directed officials to make serious efforts to solve problems faced by the people and warned that any laxity on this front will not be tolerated.

Yadav added that keeping in mind the cost of travelling to lucknow and going back, the Janata Darshan/Janata Ka Darbar programme has been postponed and it is expected of district officials to address problems of the people at local level itself.

Chief Minister gave above directions soon after he met people who had come from various parts of the state and listened to their problems at his official residence here on Wednesday morning. He asked all district officials to be present at their offices on working days during the official timings and after hearing out the problems brought before them, list them and ensure time bound and adequate action on the complaints.

He also asked MPs and MlAs of the party to work towards solving the problems faced by the people. The Chief Minister also said that the government was monitoring the redressal of problems at Tehsil Diwas in districts and added that officials need to understand that when mechanisms of listening and solving problems at the district level were in place why people were coming to lucknow.

He said that large number of people turning at his residence during Janta Darbad, was a pointer that district officials were not paying adequate attention to redressal of grievances and warned them that any laxity on this front will not be tolerated by the State Government and stringent action would be taken against callous officials.

Meanwhile Chief Minister also mourned the death of passengers in the train mishap in Gorakhpur. Expressing his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the chief minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the passengers killed in the accident and a financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 each to those injured.
