UP governor Ram Naik has asked chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to make available the action taken report and the action proposed to be taken by the state government on the reports submitted by the lok Ayukt and deputy lok Ayukt. The Governor has also asked the state government to furnish the explanation of the chief secretary on the reports of the lok Ayujkt.
In a letter to the Chief minister akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday the governor said that out of the total 52 special reports of the lokayukta and deputy lokayukta submitted to the government, clarification and comments on only two reports have been sent to the Rajbhawan so far while still 50 are pending.
“We are yet to get any information about the clarification on these 50 pending reports nor there is any information whether the action taken reports have been tabled in the state legislature," an official statement from Rajbhawan said.
The Governor said `` the institution of lok Ayukt was created as per lokayukt Act 1975 to fight corruption and malpractices and misuse of office committed by the ministers, elected representatives of the people and public servants and strength good governance. The governor said that most of the special reports by the lokayukt are about the corruption and other irregularities opted by the ministers, public representatives and other government officials.
The Governor pointed out that inordinate delay in action by the state government on the special reports submitted by the state government defeats the very purpose of creation of the office of lokayukt to fight the bribery and corruption in the government.
