If you want to check armed conflicts in villages, resolve land disputes at the earliest.
This is the mantra which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given to lekhpals while asking them to dispose of land disputes at the earliest as they are the main reason for crime in villages.
“Land disputes are the major flash points of crimes in villages. This is no secret, everyone knows that people even kill their relatives for a small piece of land. Timely disposal of land-related disputes can prevent crimes. Delay in solving dispute, particularly of property, within the family or outside leads to major confrontation. Sometimes, it creates law and order problem,” Yogi said at a function here on Wednesday.
He also distributed laptops to lekhpals on this occasion.
“The lekhpals are an important link in implementation of government schemes. They should have all the facts and figures of their area and should keep the seniors in the loop in case of any development,” Yogi said.
Claiming that distribution of laptops would expedite the functioning of lekhpals and speed up their work, the Chief Minister said that now the lekhpals would not have to wait to reach their offices to make a report to send it to the district authorities as they would be able to work efficiently from the field.
The Chief Minister said that when applying for income, caste and domicile certificates had been made on-line, the responsibilities of lekhpals had increased and laptops would help them in their work.
The Chief Minister also claimed that 25 to 30 per cent of the names in the voter lists were fake and this should be rectified soon. “Efforts should be made to remove the fake voters from the electoral rolls and lekhpals can be a big help in this. It has been brought to my knowledge that around 25-30 per cent names in electoral rolls are fake. Thus, the genuine voters are deprived of exercising their right of vote and lekhpals should rectify this fault. In democracy, the genuine voters should get an opportunity to cast their votes,” he said.
Earlier, the UP government had distributed smartphones to lekhpals and now they have been given laptops.
“Smartphones and laptops will surely improve their efficiency,” Yogi said.
The Chief Minister gave away 21 laptops in a symbolic gesture to the lekhpals of Lucknow district at the function held here on Wednesday. The programme was earlier scheduled to be held on Tuesday but was postponed for Wednesday due to the sudden visit of the Chief Minister to New Delhi.
