The Chief Minister said the way the five judges of the apex court gave a unanimous verdict and the way the people had accepted it, showed that the biggest decisions in most difficult circumstances could be taken by keeping each other’s trust and within the constitutional boundary.

The Chief Minister had cancelled all official engagements for the day on Saturday.

Former UP Governor Ram Naik also expressed his happiness over the verdict in favour of Ram temple and said that as people lived in peace in Ram rajya, similarly this judgement would solve all problems.

“While the Waqf Board will get land for the mosque, which will satisfy their community, the Hindus have got the permission for construction of a Ram temple,’’ Naik said in a written statement issued in Mumbai.

“Now, I am satisfied that a Ram temple would be constructed very soon there (in Ayodhya). I appeal to the people of the country to maintain peace and calm at this juncture,” he said.

Opposition leaders also hailed the apex court verdict and appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict on Ayodhya dispute and appealed to the people to maintain calm and peace.

Mayawati posted on twitter, “The SC judgement is in accordance with the secular Constitution made by Dr BR Ambedkar. The judgement is historic and we respect it.”

UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu said that Congress respected the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya suit but the decision should not be claimed as a victory of any section.

Lallu also appealed to the people to maintain harmony and brotherhood so that calm and peace prevailed in society.

In a unanimous verdict, the Supreme Court cleared the way for construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya and directed the Centre to allot a five-acre plot in Ayodhya to Sunni Waqf Board for building a mosque.
