Taking its Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to a new high, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched a 'Clean Dhaba' campaign across the state under which the cleanest dhaba will be identified and given star ranking.
“This ranking will be determined on the basis of cleanliness. The cleanest dhaba will get an award,” State Swachh Bharat Mission Director Neha Sharma said here on Friday.
The government has already started a week-long campaign starting from January 5 under which dhabas are encouraged to segregate waste and create a plastic-free zone.
“Mass mobilisation and public awareness will also be spread under this campaign. Along with this, they will also be motivated to maintain clean toilets in dhabas,” the official said.
Sharma said that a SOP (standard operating procedure) had been issued to all the municipal commissioners in this regard. According to it, the urban bodies are expected to create awareness among the public around the dhabas. Apart from this, from January 13 to March 30, monitoring will be done and the cleanest dhaba will be rewarded on the basis of ranking from March 20 to March 31.
This is how dhabas will get star ranking At the end of March, the work of ranking the dhabas participating in the campaign will be done. The basis of ranking will be as follows.
“The ranking would be based on the way they segregate waste and how they promote a plastic-free environment by not even using plastic cutlery. Clean toilets will help the dhaba owner to earn more points and if the location of the dhaba is uploaded on the Google Map or toilet locator then its ranking would further go up,” Sharma said.
The official said that local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) would be roped in so that they may educate dhaba owners about the nitty-gritty of the swachhata campaign.
