Baying for the head of Samajwadi Party Government, BSP national president Mayawati said that after Supreme Court’s structure against State Government on its role in Muzaffarnagar riots, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav should resign on moral grounds.
“The Court directive is enough to show Government’s involvement in the riots. Either Chief Minister should resign of his own otherwise the Center should dismiss this Government that allowed killing of Muslims,” Mayawati said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court in its directive found Akhilesh Government failing to perform its duty and said that riots were held because of the negligence of the State Government. But the court did not allow CBI or SIT probe into the riots.
“After Supreme Court directives it has been proved that jungle raj prevails in Uttar Pradesh. The BSP had been saying it for many months that law and order situation in the state was bad and now the Apex Court has confirmed BSP’s observations,” she said.
She said that the riots were orchestrated with a design that left over 60 dead and rendered over 40,000 homeless. “There is question mark over the intention of the Government to bring the culprits to the book. This proved the nexus between the BJP and the SP,” she said.
