Chaturvedi wants Govt to act against Yadav family

Advocate and social activist Vishwanath Chaturvedi on Wednesday termed the income tax raids on leaders and businessmen close to Samajwadi Party chief as an action against small fish and claimed that if the government was serious towards its policy of zero tolerance towards corruption than it must initiate action against the officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who were shielding Mulayam Singh Yadav, his son and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, and other family members in the disproportionate assets case.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Chaturvedi said that besides the CBI, the Yadav family too forged an affidavit putting wrong information before the public about the above disproportionate assets case.

“It is surprising that I filed a review petition in the case in March 2019 and demanded status report but since then not a single hearing has taken place,” asserted Chaturvedi, adding that he would now file a petition in the apex court to demand a probe into how the CBI officials tried to bail out the Yadav family.

He claimed that since the filing of his case in 2005, the CBI only produced income tax return papers of the Yadav family and made no investigation regarding the huge wealth earned by Mulayam Singh Yadav and others.

He further said that it was shocking that instead of acting against the big fish like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and others who were involved in huge corruption, the government agencies were just taking action against some small fish associated with the Yadav family.
