After successfully tacking a revolt-like situation following the sudden resignation of senior leader and the then leader of Opposition, Swami Prasad Maurya, BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday alleged that some channels were playing into the hands of Opposition leaders to damage the morale of her party cadre.
``A report shown in the media about some senior BSP leaders on leaving the party was baseless. These leaders have confirmed to me that media persons were running fake stories," Mayawati charged at a press conference in lucknow on Tuesday.
Earlier, a channel has aired a report claiming senior BSP leaders Ramveer Upanchaya and Thakur Jaiveer Singh were leaving the party.
``No one in my party is leaving. But I want to confirm to the media that many MlAs of other parties are in touch with me and were likely to join the BSP," she asserted referring to the support from MlAs from other parties to BSP candidates during the recent `polls for Rajya Sabha.
She exuded confidence that her party was going to form next government in the state.
Interestingly Mayawati also targeted both the SP and the BJP on the law and order front. "The crime situation in the state is going from bad to worst but the SP government is not at all concerned. When the government itself was patronising criminals and now cops were being killed by goons, then what will be the condition of common people," she querried.
"Why are the Governor and the Centre not imposing President's rule in UP when the law and order situation has dipped to an all time low," she questioned.
"If SP wants to serve the people then it should jail all the criminals including those in the ministry and Assembly. It would however create a problem for the government as jails would be packed and the existence of SP would be endangered," she pointed out.
Mayawati also hit out at the BJP on the law and order front saying, ``Why did the PM at his rallies in UP tell the people that there would be development and people will get employment if BJP comes to power. Wjhy did he never raise the issue of deteriorating law and order situation. This is so because teh Centre has failed to ensure safety to people of New Delhi,” she asserted.
"Both the SP and the BJP would be taught a lesson in the coming elections as the people were fed up of both," she said.
Terming the recent merger and demerger of Qaumi Ekta Dal (QED) with teh SP as a drama, Mayawati said ," Everyone knows about the SP and its affinity for criminals. They have just enacted a drama to brand their CM as clean which no one is readyt to buy."
