Change ideology not dress code: Digvijay to RSS

Published on:

Terming RSS ideology as divisive senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said that changing of dress code will not help society until RSS changes its ideology.

“Changing the dress code from half pant to full by the RSS will not benefit people unless they change their ideology that harps on dividing society on the name of religion,” he told reporters here on Sunday.

He also criticised the RSS for its statement to wipe out the anti-national elements from all the universities of the country.”Who are they to decided who is nationalist and who are anti-national. Indian Constitution has enough power to decide and such organisations should not interfere in the education system,” he said.

Singh also supported the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia University.

“The UPA government in the past had given an affidavit in the court about the minority status of AMU but this NDA government has withdrawn,” he said adding that both the universities need minority status.

Hitting out at Modi government Singh said that till date the government has failed to give any evidence against the JNU Union president Kanhiya Kumar but no action has been taken against the doctored video.”I demand that action should be taken against Union HRD ministry and its officer Shilpi Tiwari, who was behind the doctored video,” he said.

When asked about the fleeing of liquor baron Vijay Mallaya from the country, he said that there was a nexus between the government and the corporate magnet and this was proved from the statement of the CBI joint Director A K Sharma, who says that a faulty look out notice was issued.

“Centre should give the details of the beneficiaries of Rs 1.14 lakh crore waiver given by the banks so that people should know what the central government was doing,” he said.

The former MP CM also supported the agitation by the jewelers in the country and said that their demands are genuine.

When his attention was drawn on the entry of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in active politics, the former UP in-charge, said: “All the Congress workers in UP are demanding this since long. UP congress  could be revived if Priyanka comes in active politics”

Singh expressed surprise over Muzaffarnagar probe saying that how can a probe end with even saying who is guilty. “ Every one is surprised on the report when all knew that a BJP MP and now an Union minister and a legislator was involved in the riots. But how can they be let off in the report,” he said adding: “There is something fishy”.

Congress leader also refused to speak any thing on the appointment of election strategist Prashant  Kishore (PK). “You should speak to Madhushudan Mistri and Nirmal Khatri as they are in-charge of UP,” he said.

Singh along with his wife Amrita are in lucknow to attend the marriage reception of senior UP Minister Shivpal Singh’s son.
