CFCs being set up in  every dist to strengthen ODOP scheme

In an attempt to strengthen the ODOP scheme at the grassroots level, common facility centres (CFCs) are being set up in districts to make these indigenous products competitive in terms of quality and price at national and international level.

“These centres have state-of-the-art testing labs, design studios and facilities for packaging, designing, labelling, and raw materials. Many more initiatives have been taken by the state government to create an ecosystem for the ODOP products,” Additional Chief Secretary (MSME) Navneet Sehgal said here on Thursday.

He said an export action plan has been prepared to meet the local requirements of ODOP products, which includes exploring the export potential at the district level, making the products competitive at all levels, providing maximum employment opportunities at the local level with less capital and minimum risk, necessary infrastructure, logistics, financing etc for creating a conducive environment for exports.

“To promote the export of ODOP products, an export committee will be formed in each district under the chairmanship of the district magistrates. The District Export Promotion Council is also being established to make ODOP entrepreneurs of every district export-oriented, and to provide necessary incentives and support. In order to make ODOP products more competitive and suitable for exports, various schemes are being run by the government,” Sehgal said.

The government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with major e-commerce companies such as Walmart, Amazon, and Flipkart for the marketing of ODOP products.

Under the MoU, necessary training is being provided to enable more ODOP entrepreneurs to register on the e-commerce platform. He said that to strengthen the export facilitation mechanism, on the lines of the Udyam Saarthi App, the Yogi Adityanath government will soon be developing ‘Niryaat Sarathi App’ which will provide all information related to export of goods at a single click.
