Taking a jibe at the BJP, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that Centre had sent an empty water train to UP to make fun of the people of Bundelkhand, who are struggling for each drop of water.
“It is the Samajwadi Party government in UP which has taken care of these unfortunate people by ensuring food and water to them. But the BJP-led Union government made a mockery of them by sending an empty water train to Mahoba,” Yadav said while addressing a rally in Ram Ganga Tiraha at Bareilly on Monday.
Yadav said that this empty water train was sent with a purpose. "This was done to overshadow the achievements of the SP government. The BJP knows that it cannot match us in development. If the Centre was so keen to help the state it should have sent tankers as we have enough water in Bundelkhand but do not have the resources to cart them across to all seven districts,” he said.
The CM had gone to Budaun and travelled to Bareilly by road to have a feel of development. He interacted with the people and enquired whether they were benefiting from the government schemes.
In both Bareilly and Budaun, Yadav distributed e-rickshaws among the masses besides launching several welfare schemes.
“look at the difference in the working of our government and that of the Centre. The SP government is distributing e-rickshaws for free while the Union government has given loans to purchase these rickshaws,” the CM said.
In Bareilly he distributed rickshaws among 417 people and also assured free driving licenses for them.
The CM launched 31 projects worth Rs 450.17 crore in Budaun and laid the foundation stone of four projects worth Rs 130.178 crore. He also inaugurated the four-lane Bareilly- Buadaun road constructed at the cost of Rs 244.346 crore.
Addressing a rally in Budaun, Yadav said that the Samajwadi Party will retain power because of its performance. “We are getting support of the people and no one will be able to stop us,” he said.
Without mentioning the names of Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Yadav said that those who are working for the common man were getting a chance again.
The CM said that the UP government is helping farmers who are facing drought. “We are taking decisions for welfare of the unemployed, minorities, youth, farmers and women despite attempts by the opposition to defame us,” he said.
Yadav pointed out that during the Budaun rape and murder case, everything was crystal clear still the opposition defamed the state government.
Reminding the achievements of his government, the CM said that the longest road in the state was constructed during his tenure. "Service of the Dial 100 have been improved along with1090 service for the women," he claimed.
MP from Badaun, Dharmendra Yadav also addressed the gathering elaborating on the development works carried out by the UP government in the region.
