The Union government has asked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to popularise Fit India Movement which will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29.
In a letter to the chief minister, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiran Rijiju, said that as the prime minister was set to launch Fit India Movement and administer fitness pledge to the citizens, it needs to be publicised across the state.
“As this programme will be telecast live by Doordarshan, arrangements should be made for viewing the telecast in all schools, colleges, panchayats, urban bodies and public places,” Rijiju said in his letter which was released to the media on Monday.
The Union minister said that the government should also ensure mass movement involving all citizens, irrespective of age and gender, and encourage them to take the fitness pledge.
