Azad Samaj Party president and Dalit leader Chandrashekhar Azad alias Ravan has said that the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are responsible for the disaster caused by the pandemic and death of large number of people in the second wave of coronavirus. He said the government has failed to cope with the situation arising out of the pandemic and the situation is out of control in the country. Criticising the Modi government at the Centre for its failure to deliver in this crisis, Azad said that in order to win elections in five states, especially in Bengal, the Central government left 130 crore people of India on the cusp of death.
“Experts from WHO, Europe, America, Africa, even from India itself were constantly warning that the second wave of Covid would take a dangerous form, but the Modi government chose to ignore it and the entire Union cabinet was engaged in Bengal elections. The prime minister addressed many rallies and the Election Commission failed to discharge its duties,” he alleged in a statement here on Saturday.
Azad said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who addressed many election rallies in West Bengal, is also responsible for the present mess caused by the pandemic.
“What the UP government has done so far to mitigate the woes of the people reeling under the impact of the pandemic. There is scarcity of medicines, doctors, oxygen and ventilators. People are dying without treatment outside the hospital, scenes of cremation ghats are heartbreaking’’, said Azad. He said Yogi’s claim of free treatment stands exposed. He said the poor cannot afford treatment at the private hospitals.
