Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi is likely to visit lucknow in the last week of January to review poll preparations for the seven-phase Assembly poll in the state. The polling for the first phase will be held on February 11.

Sources in the State Election Office said the EC wants to hold live telecast of polling from 15,000 polling booths during the seven phase of polling in UP. Booths identified as sensitive and hyper-sensitive in all 75 districts of the state will be particularly included.

“During the 2017 Assembly elections, we will go for webcasting or live telecast of booths to create transparency in the poll process. The number of booths to be selected for webcasting could be around 15,000 “said an EC official in lucknow on Wednesday.

Besides, the EC is likely to order the transfer of several district police chiefs and district magistrates against whom it received complaints from different political parties. The officials under the EC scanner also include several police officers including Circle Officers, Inspectors and police station in- charges in several districts.

For the conduct of free and fair elections, the BJP has already demanded from the EC to remove DGP Javeed Ahmed along with more than 100 district and police officials
