CBI seeks court nod to conduct polygraph test on Raja Bhaiya

Troiuble for former UP minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh aka Raja Bhaiyya in connection with the murder of Deputy SP Zia-ul-Haq at Pratapgarh in March, is far from over. The CBI has moved a Special Court requesting for his polygraph test.

The probe agency wants to cross-examine Raja Bhaiyya for his suspected involvement in the cop’s murder. The slain cop’s wife Praveen had named the politician as an accused in the FIR.

The CBI moved the petition in the court of Zeenat Mirza seeking permission for a lie detector test of the legislator, which will be heard on June 11. Through its application, the CBI has asked the MlA to appear in the court on June 11 and submit whether he was ready for the polygraph test or not.

The CBI had earlier quizzed Raja Bhaiya for a marathon 19 hours at the Kunda (Pratapgarh) camp office on May 15 and 16. The sleuths questioned him on his call details record (CDR) made after the triple murder in the Pratapgarh village. In the three-month probe, the CBI has collected CDR of Raja Bhaiyya and quizzed most of the callers / receivers. They also quizzed him on handguns used in the murder of Nanhe Yadav, reportedly provided by Raja’s aides.

Raja’s aides Kunda Nagar Panchayat chairman Gulshan Yadav, Hariom Shankar Srivastav, Nanhe Singh and Ajit Singh were also confronted during the quizzing. Two of his cronies are behind the bars in connection with the Pradhan’s murder.

During the interrogation, there were some conflicting statements by the politicians. The CBI feels that a polygraph test was necessary to confirm the doubts.

The CBI has filed the charge sheet against five people in the murder of the pradhan but chose to leave out Raja Bhaiyya. However, the former minister could be included in the charge-sheet in the cop’s murder which will be filed later this month.
