The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) moved an application before the District Magistrate of Badaun, to seek his permission and support for the second post-mortem of the two cousins, who were alleged to be gang raped and murdered on May 27 last.
The CBI has sought protection of the graves on the bank of Ganga and arrangements for the second post-mortem of the bodies on Sunday. Sources here said a team of doctors including some from AIIMS, New Delhi will conduct the autopsy near the graves for which tents would be erected. “We have urged district magistrate, Sambhunath, to protect the graves and make arrangements for the postmortem,” sources in the CBI disclosed.
Meanwhile, district authorities with the assistance of the officials of irrigation department, has started making preventive measures at Atiana ghat, where the bodies are buried. “Sand and muds are being put over the graves to save it from the rising Ganga presently,” Irrigation officials said. local administration claimed that they would provided all support to the CBI regarding second autopsy as per the demand of the central investigating agency. The entire proceedings would be made in camera. local administration would also provide adequate security during the entire exercise and some villagers, particularly the relatives and family members of the victims might staged protest for the agency to conduct second autopsy.
It may be mentioned that on Thursday, the medical board constituted by the CBI had recommended to go ahead with the second autopsy even as the rising water level of river Ganga might came in way of the CBI’s effort to exhume the bodies of the cousins who were buried on the banks of the river Ganga. Sources in the CBI have confirmed that the medical board found several loopholes in the first autopsy conducted on the two victims by the local doctors in Badaun after which they gave its nod for fresh postmortem examination. The CBI wanted to get the second post-mortem examination conducted as it wanted to get some doubts cleared about the rape and murder theory as floated by family members and local residents.
