A special CBI court deferred the hearing on a CBI plea for a polygraph test on former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya in the Deputy SP murder case at Pratapgarh to June 18.
Raja Bhaiyya's counsel informed Special Judge Zeenat Mirza that his client could not appear in the court on Tuesday - the scheduled day to take up the matter. Raja
Bhaiyya will have to inform the court whether he was ready for the polygraph test and only after that will a decision be taken by the Court.
On June 6, the CBI moved a petition seeking permission to go for a lie detector test on the politician. The CBI's request followed a marathon quizzing of Raja Bhaiya for over 19 hours on May 15 and 16. In its application, the CBI also asked Raja Bhaiyya to appear in the Court and inform the whether he was ready for the test or not.
Sources claimed that during the quizzing, Raja came up with conflicting statements and the CBI wanted to cross-examine those links through the Polygraph test.
Earlier Raja Bhaiyya was accused for conspiracy in the murder of Deputy SP, Zia-ul-Haq in a village at Pratapgarh on March 2 when he went there to probe the murder of a pradhan. The FIR was lodged by the slain cop's widow Praveen Azad.
The CBI has already filed a charge sheet against five persons in the murder of the pradhan and his brother. On June 8, the CBI filed another charge sheet against 14 people in the cop's murder case.
