The designated CBI court in Badaun, deferred the judgement on a protest petition filed by the family two sisters who were found hanging from a tree on the fringes of their village last year. The Court will now hear the case on October 6.

During the hearing on September 7, the POSCO court of ADJ Virendra Kumar Pandey announced to give its order on Friday after the hearing was completed. However on Friday, the court said that arguments on some issues should be done again before a decision was reached hence the case would be heard again on October 6.

The girls' family had protested against the CBI's probe that the girls had committed suicide and not murdered. After a long legal dispute, the CBI had handed over evidences to the family on the directive of Allahabad High Court last month.  The CBI said that since the kin are accused in the case hence they were not eligible to get the copies of the evidence.

The two cousins were allegedly raped and murdered on May 27, 2014 in Katra village of Badaun leading to outrage in the media and political circles.  The bodies were found hanging from a tree and three brothers Pappu Yadav, Awadhesh Yadav, Urvesh Yadav and two cops were accused in the rape and murder.  The CBI was handed over the case on June 12 but submitted a closure report in December last year claiming that all five accused were innocent. The CBI instead had suspected the family's role in the crime. The girls' family later a protest petition against the CBI closure report.
