With the aim to improve private participation in real estate business, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the new Uttar Pradesh Township Policy, 2023 which will ensure modern townships equipped with quality civic amenities in the urban areas of the state.

The decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“Private investment will get a boost with the implementation of the Uttar Pradesh Township Policy, 2023. State-of-the-art township facilities with better quality civic amenities from economic, social and environmental point of view will be available to the general public at reasonable prices,” Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said here on Wednesday.

He said with the development of modern townships equipped with quality civic amenities in the urban areas of the state, better residential facilities would be available to the general public and planned development of cities would be encouraged.

“Along with this, there will be an increase in employment generation in the private sector,” Khanna said and added that the Yogi government was continuously promoting urbanisation and the decision was part of the government’s efforts in this direction.

Under this policy, the responsibility of both the developer and the development authority has been fixed. If the developers violate the rules, then a penalty can be imposed on them and the property can be confiscated. There will also be provision for 10 per cent EWS and 10 per cent LIG houses. The requirement of earmarked land has been reduced from 25 acre to 12.25 acre.

In another decision, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a proposal to launch heliport services in Agra and Mathura through private investors on private-public partnership (PPP) model to attract tourists.

Khanna said the cabinet approved the bid of M/s Rajas Aerosports and Adventures Pvt Ltd on an amount of Rs 25,00,000 per annum with increase as per the contract.

The letter of award and the contract letter between the selected firm and the Tourism department has also been approved while the chief minister has been authorised by the council of ministers to take further decisions as per the requirement in the matter.

Keeping in view the importance of heliport in the field of tourism, initiative is being taken to operate heliport in Agra and Mathura in the first phase. In the next phase, heliports at other major tourist places of the state will be operated on priority.

“This facility will increase the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists and direct/indirect employment opportunities will also be created,” he said.
