Uttar Pradesh Congress president Raj Babbar hit out at the UP government for not taking action against the main accused in the Bulandshahr incident and demanded a probe under supervision of sitting judge of the High Court into the killing of a police inspector and a youth during the violence.
Babbar said that 25 days had passed since mob violence broke out near Chingrawathi police post after cattle carcasses were found strewn in a field near Mahaw village, but no concrete action had been taken so far.
“The police first arrested innocent persons in connection with cow slaughter in Bulandshahr and now, instead of arresting the main accused who masterminded the violence leading to the death of two persons, including Sayna police station incharge Subodh Kumar Singh, the local cops are busy arresting all others,” Babbar said, adding that the local police were making no efforts to arrest the main accused also named in the FIR.
“To bring the truth before the people and ensure stern action against the real culprits, the government must engage a sitting judge of the High Court to monitor the investigations,” Babbar said.
It may be mentioned that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the Bulandshahr incident along with the Special Task Force (STF) and the local police, has so far failed to arrest any of the right wing activists named in the FIR in the killing of the inspector and one another.
Bajrang Dal chief in Bulandshahr, Yogesh Raj, one of the accused in the violence that claimed life of two persons, has so far managed to evade arrest along with two other right wing leaders.
The police have so far claimed to have arrested 29 accused in connection with violence and cow slaughter but all the three main accused remained untraced.
