Builders need to get back trust of people: CM

Claiming that people have lost trust on real estate sector Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the biggest challenge facing builders is to get back that trust so that this sector can get back to rails in Uttar Pradesh.

“My four month experience in Government says that there is big mis-trust between the builders and the buyers.  The builders have taken hard earned money of buyers and has failed to complete project in specified time,” Yogi said while addressing UP Ahead Conclave organised by Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) here on Sunday.

He said the biggest casualty is the Greater Noida and Noida region where over even after paying money over 1.5 lakh buyers are yet to get their houses. This is loss of face for the builders. Government has intervened and many builders have reacted positively. “Still there is much needed to be done. If this issue cannot be resolved through dialogue, the government will be bound to take action against the builders,” he said.

“The second problem Government is facing is about mushrooming of illegal colonies in the state. The developers build colonies without proper drainage, light or water. later government development authorities are forced to take it over because these become the den of illegal activities. Such colonies should be restricted as state-run development agencies do not have enough funds to build infrastructure in these colonies,” he said.

He said as per the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have houses for all by 2022, the state government wants to construct as many houses as possible. In rural areas we need over 48 lakh houses. In Urban areas this number is even bigger. Under PM Rural Housing scheme Government wants to construct 10 lakh houses in this fiscal while in urban areas over 2 lakh houses will be constructed, CM said.

Yogi also talked about different schemes government has taken up to build infrastructure through its budgetary allocations. “With the help of Union Government we are building smart cities which will have best infrastructure facilities. Under regional connectivity programme plans are afoot to connect big cities of the state,” he said.

On this occasion CM also released that cover of a book “The Monk who became Chief Minister”.
