After Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) petitoned the Election Commission of India about Mayawati raking up caste and community while announcing the list of candidates, Bahujan Samaj Party has now complained to the EC about violation of  Model Code of Conduct by BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj and UP president Keshav Prasad Maurya.

BSP general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Satish Chandra Mishra, made a written complaint to the EC on Wednesday, demanding strict action against the BJP under section 16A of the Representation of People's Act.

In the complaint BSP leader said that BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj misused religious places to woo voters in Meerut besides Keshav Prasad Maurya took the name of Yadav caste to create a division among voters.

Interestingly, BSP's move comes after he BJP had complained to the EC about Mayawati segregating her list of candidates on communal and caste lines.

Reacting to the BSP move, BJP state general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak alleged that everyone knew how the BSP functions and their leaders openly  spoke on caste and communal lines. " BJP leaders are aware of all the legality of elections and they have not done anything to violate any norms," Pathak claimed.

Meanwhile, BJP MP from Unnao Sakshi Maharaj submitted his reply to the EC on Wednesday against the notice served on him for his controversial statements made during a religious function at a temple in Meerut on January 6.

In his reply, the BJP MP claimed that he had not taken name of any community and it was a general statement made on the growing population of the country.

On Tuesday, Maharaj was served the EC notice asking him to submit his report by 11am on Wednesday though the BJP MP had earlier sought the notice in Hindi.
