The Bahujan Samaj Party organised 58th death anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar on Friday as a show of strength when party workers swarmed the Ambedkar Prerna Sthal to pay their homage where they took a resolve to win maximum seats in forthcoming lok Sabha election.
"Party workers from over the state assembled at the Prerna Sthal to take a vow to make Mayawati as next Prime Minister of the country. The party hope to win at least 40 seats from Uttar Pradesh," party’s senior leader Nasimmuddin Siddiqui said here on Friday.
He said that responsibility is on the BSP workers to fulfill the dreams of Baba Saheb Ambedkar who has worked for the uplift of the downtrodden and dalits. "This dream will be fulfilled if Mayawati becomes the Prime Minister of the country. And the onus is on us to ensure BSP gets maximum seats from Uttar Pradesh," he said.
A round a week back BSP national president Mayawati had given a call to party workers to attend Ambedkar’s death anniversary in lucknow. Senior party leaders and legislators were also asked to attend this function. Following this directive leaders and workers descended on the Prerna sthal on Friday morning.
The Prerna Stahl reverberated with slogans like Baba Sahen Amar rahe as party’s lok Sabha candidates ferried BSP workers in buses to show their popularity. They first offered floral tributes and then attended the workers’meet.
Mayawati, however, attended the function in New Delhi where she along with MPs paid floral tribute to Ambedkar at Parliament House.
Meanwhile, Dalit Jagjagaran samiti and Apna Dal members palid their floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar. National General secretary Apna Dal Anupriya Patel said that because of Dr Ambedkar dalits have got their right. Today they are in the main stream of society only because of Dr Ambedkar and for that dalits are indebted to Baba Saheb, she said.
