Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati gave indications of cornering the Yogi Adityanath government over the law and order situation and the farmers' issue on the eve of the budget session of Uttar Pradesh Legislature.
She gave instructions to her legislators to make the government accountable for the failure to address public grievances.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Mayawati said, "It is alarming to see the killings of leaders, lawyers and traders before the assembly and panchayat elections in UP. Not taking these incidents seriously, calling them old rivalry and not initiating stringent action against these criminals is extremely sad and condemnable. The government should pay attention."
She said, "The party MLAs are directed to make efforts to make the government accountable to the public in relation to the important issues of the farmers and public interest, as well as the government's gross negligence and malicious action in the case of crime control and the law and order situation, in the UP assembly session starting from tomorrow."
On the other hand, the party sources said that the BSP chief called a meeting of the party legislature on Wednesday in which the disgruntled leaders of the party were also invited.
