Drubbed to a worst ever humiliating defeat in the last Parliament elections having failed to even open an account, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) finally tried to regain lost ground through a road side agitation targeting both the Central as well as State government on rising inflation and “deteriorating” law and order situation.
Thousand of Party workers and leaders carrying placards and banners both against BJP and Samajwadi Party, assembled before the Vidhan Sabha to protest against the price rise by the Centre, and “deteriorating” law and order situation in the state under the Akhilesh Yadav government, on Monday. led by senior leaders Sukhdev Rajbhar and Naseemuddin Siddiqui, party workers raised slogans against both the governments. The BSP workers were carrying placards and banners reading “mehgi sabzi, mehga tel, yeh dekho Modi ka khel”, Modi ka yeh nara hai achccy dil ayenge, garibi nahi, garebon ko
mitayege” and “Akhilesh tere zamane mein , izzat lut ti thane main”. As the BSP workers were agitating outside on the road, their party legislators were sitting on protest inside
the assembly premises on the same issues.
Talking to media persons, Naseemudeen Siddiqui accused both Centre and State government for having nexus on communal front and alleged that after Muzaffarnagar, the two Parties once again trying to disturb communal harmony in Western UP just as they tried to make political gain out of it. He said that BJP has also cheated the people in the name of `achche din aane wale hai’, and now the people are feeling the pinch of soaring prices even of essential commodities like potatoes, onions, tomatoes, sugar, etc, Siddiqui said that the BSP would continue to fight on streets as well as in the Parliament and State Assemblies to ensure that people should get relief from inflation and also feel safe in the State. This was the first time during the present Akhilesh government that BSP held a protest before the Vidhan Sabha.
Meanwhile when BSP workers and leaders were agitating on road in front of Vidhan Sabha, the Party MlAs had protested against both the above mentioned issues on the Floor of the State Assembly, leading to the adjournment of the House for over an
hour due to which the Question Hour could not be held. The MlAs of the main Opposition party squatted in the well of the House even before the proceedings for the day began in the morning, carrying banners like “Inflation and goons rule in
Modi and Akhilesh governments” and “Everything is expensive only life is cheap”.
leader of Opposition and senior BSP member Swami Prasad Maurya alleged that “riots were being instigated” to divert peoples’ attention from rising prices and dismal law and
order situation.
Reacting on a question over the statement of SSP Moradabad that BJP leaders were behind trouble in Kanth (Moradabad), Maurya questioned that had the said officer and local police had worn bangles that they were not taking any action. ``Had SSP and Mordabad police had worn banglesIJ If not, than why they not initiated action against the guilty prior to the trouble started. It clearly pointed that how SP and BJP had join hands to hurt the communal sentiments of the public and make political gains out of it”, Maurya alleged demanding stern action against the SSP and those responsible for the trouble there. Maurya even accused BJP and SP of having truck to get the House close sine-die much before the scheduled programme. ``We wanted the House to run so that we could raise issues related to public but it was SP and BJP who clubbed hands to get the house closed sine-die”, he alleged while criticizing in the manner in which the Budget was passed on Monday. Maruya was reacting to BJP’s allegation which claimed that BSP and SP had played according to `script’ to get the House adjourned sine-die. Replying to Rangrajan’s claim that people spending Rs 47 per day in Urban areas and Rs 33 in Rural areas does not comes under the category of poor, Maruya said that it is better that the Government snatch all facilities of Rangrajan and give him the said amount daily, only than he would understand that the real pain of being poor.
