Condemning Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh for his statement on “devalaya and shauchalaya” the BSP said that Kanshi Ram’s name was unnecessarily dragged in the controversy as it was fight between BJP and Congress.

‘’The statement of Congress leader and Union minister Ramesh was condemnable as it was a move to insult a politician who is no more and had never said such a thing,’’a BSP spokesperson in a statement here on Friday. Jai Ram Ramesh had said in a statement that Kanshi Ram had once proposed to construct a big shauchalaya (lavatory) at the disputed site of Babri Mosque – Ram Janmabhoomi instead of a place of worship. He was reacting to the statement of Gijarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi where he had said that in Gujarat his government has given more preference to construct laterins than places of worship. The BSP spokesperson said that by taking the name of Kanshi Ram the Union minister was targeting BSP ahead of the assembly elections in five states where elections would be held between November and December.

Kanshi Ram is founder of BSP. “BSP would contest in four of these five states. And by taking the name of Kanshi ram the Union Minister has tried to link BSP with BJP. This is done with a design and we oppose this move,” the spokesman said. He said though Kanshi ram had never said these words. Had he said these words the BSP would have implemented his wish because it came to power four times. The BSP said that the debate between the Congress and the BJP after Narendra Modi said that toilet is more necessary than ‘ Devalayas ( Temples) was a matter between two political parties but involving BSP into the issue was unfortunate.
