Warming up to possible alliance with Congress post-lok Sabha elections the Bahujan Samaj Party has issued directives to its candidates asking them to hold small mohulla meetings apprising the people of the anti-people policies of the Akhilesh Yadav Government but spared the mis-deeds of UPA Government.
Party’s national general secretary Nasimuddin Siddiqui said in a communication to workers to organise small meetings in the villages and cities. These should be group meetings of not more than 10 people in which people should be told about their sufferings in Samajwadi Party regime. The party coordinators have been entrusted with the task to identify workers in gram sabha level who could lead these meetings.
Interestingly, in this hi-tech age when parties like Congress, BJP and AAP are relying heavily on social media to put across their views to the people the BSP is still relying on the word of mouth to educate voters about BSP’s policies.
"Our voters are not educated lot. They are not very comfortable with social media like facebook and twitter. So we rely more on personal contact. This also helps us in knowing their problems better. When we meet some one face to face we learn about his body language. After one meeting the person also feels committed to vote for the party," the BSP national general secretary said.
The party leaders have also issued directives asking the candidates to follow election code of conduct in letter and in spirit. The communication says that all the meetings and rallies should be carried out after proper permission from the district administration.
The BSP which has announced candidates almost a year back is silently working at the village level without any pomp and show. The local bazaars and village haats are splashed with party banners and posters while senior leaders like Satish Chandra Mishra, Swamy Prasad Maurya and Nasimuddin Siddiqui holding rallies regularly. They are traveling by road and holding meetings at every cross section."No one is talking about BSP now. The results will show Mayawati’s might when BSP will sweep election," Siddiqui said.
