With an aim to increase party’s reach among the people the Bahujan Samaj Party has decided to hold small meetings at village and ward level where people would be apprised of party’s policies.
This decision was taken in the meeting held to review party’s election preparedness here on Monday. In the absence of Mayawati, who is attending Parliament, party’s state president Ram Achal Rajbhar along with senior leaders like Nasimuddin Siddiqui took the meeting. The election-in charges were asked to give reports of party’s election progress in this meeting. They were asked to give details of the booth committees including members and incharge of these committees.
"There were threadbare discussion about booth management and how to involve people in this election campaign. It was decided that small meetings should be held at the village and ward levels in the rural and urban areas respectively. The interaction should be frank and wherever people have doubt about party’s policies these should be cleared there and then," a senior leader told The Pioneer after meeting.
He said these small meetings would be in fact one-to-man meeting in a small group comprising note more 10 people. The leaders have been given a target to hold at least six to seven meetings per day. "This will also be a good way to improve personal relationship between the members of the community," he said. The BSP has decided to even knock at the doors of known rivals and speak to them in a decent manner. "Probably we know they will not vote for BSP but at least our workers should go and meet them," he said.
