With the prices of diesel, petrol, gas increasing day by day in the country, the Bahujan Samaj Party attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over inflation while the Congress came on road to stage a protest against inflation on Thursday.

BSP supremo Mayawati tweeted from her official Twitter handle; "The people who are facing tremendous pressure and stress due to rising inflation, unemployment, poverty in the country are now suffocating due to rising prices of essential commodities like petrol, diesel and cooking gas. They are compelled to live by suffocation. This is very worrying. The Central government must take this matter seriously."

Meanwhile, on the call of the Congress for nationwide protest against inflation, the leaders of the grand old party here on Thursday afternoon took out a march but were stopped by police when they were heading towards Raj Bhawan.

The cops also used force to disperse the Congress workers while dozens of them were held and released in the evening. The prominent leaders who came on road to protest against inflation included Pramod Tiwari, leader of Congress Legislature Party Aradhana Mishra Mona, MLA Virendra Chaudhary, and other former MPs and MLAs.

Aradhana Mishra later said that despite the cheap crude oil in the international market, the BJP government was selling expensive oil and LPG, and the people were troubled by unemployment and non-increasing income, but the BJP government was filling its treasury all over the country.

She said that the people were troubled by inflation but BJP had no sympathy towards them.
