Former state president of New Delhi unit of Aam Aadmi Party and AAP chief whip in the Delhi assembly, Dilip Pandey, chastised the Bharatiya Janata Party for convening an ‘intellectual meet’, saying Brahmins were unhappy with the Yogi Adityanath government due to its oppressive policies against them.
Pandey said Brahmins were subjected to oppressive measures in the BJP government and they had deserted the BJP now.
“So the meet is going to be a flop show,” he said.
He said the intellectual meet in fact was a clear admission by the BJP camp that they were trying to woo Brahmins who were unhappy with the ruling party.
Pandey cited instances in which Brahmins faced oppression in the Yogi Adityanath government.
“Why did the government send slain mafia Amar Dubey’s minor wife Khushi to jail even when she was married to Amar only two days back and the then superintendent of police had said that she was not a culprit in the Bikru case? The Yogi government, which initiates legal action keeping in mind the caste of a person, did not spare even Vikas Dubey’s maid and her minor child as they were Brahmins. Now the government is appeasing the Brahmins for their votes in the election,” he alleged.
Speaking about AAP’s Tirnga Yatra, Pandey said the yatra in Ayodhya would be an historical event.
“The growing public support for the Tiranga Yatra has unsettled the BJP, which is opting to register cases against AAP leaders in frustration. I think the people will give their verdict first and then the court in the cases being registered by the BJP,” he said.
Meanwhile, AAP state president Sabhajeet Singh said a meeting of panchayat representatives would be held in Lucknow on Sunday.
Singh said the party would honour the panchayat members and gram pradhans in the meet.
He said AAP was with the farmers who were agitating against the farming laws of the Central government.
