Amazing it may sound but Neeraj Bora, who quit Congress to join Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is still city Congress president while Vijay Bhadhur is holding the charge of District Congress president.
Do not get confused but if the claim of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Nirmal Khatri is to be believed than both the leaders are on the above post and not Bodhlal Shukla and Gaurav Chaudhary, who were declared as present of City and District Congress respectively by Khatri himself.
The UPCC site which seems to be not updated now for about two years, still showed Bora and Bhadhur and several other old leaders as head of district and City Congress chiefs but Khatri disclosed to the media here on Monday that only those leaders whose names were on UPCC website were deemed to by office bearers and none other. ``The names of all those nominated as Party’s office bearers is there on our Party website and no one other is a officer bearer’, claimed Khatri while replying that why he kept names of some newly appointed office bearers as a closely guarded secret.
``It is part of internal strategy but we have to hide nothing and everything about UPCC is there on our official website and can cross-check it any time”, quipped Khatri while clarifying that the media is unnecessary making a controversy out of it. Interestingly, when `The Pioneer’ checked the UPCC website on Monday evening to verify Khatri’s claims, they found that the site had no names in UPCC office-bearers list but it displayed that the list is presently `upgraded’. However, under the District and City Congress chief’s list it showed old names.
Meanwhile clarifying about the reason to extend UPCC, Khatri said that he had not enough senior hands in his present Committee whom he could give charges of the District so that close monitoring of implementation of Party’s policy and agenda can be ensured. ``I was short of working hand in the Present UPCC whom I can hand over charges of monitoring the implementation of Party’s policy, hence I went to increase my Committee”, clarified an upset Khatri.
It may be mentioned here that `The Pioneer’ already published in it’s last Thursday edition that after giving a jumbo size Committee of the UPCC, Khatri still seems to be burning mid-night oil on how to appease all the leaders. Recently, he included about a hundred more of the leaders in his State Committee and that he was further working on revamping the Media section after bringing in some new faces but again the move was said to be more of a please all exercise.
Khatri, who successfully handled all the `power centers’ (read former union ministers and other stalwarts of the Party) by pushing them to the corner, is facing serious problem from his own catorie, despite of making a jumbo size committee. Hency, he reportedly made above move to pacify the leaders to avert any immediate explosion within the Party.
