The ruling Samajwadi Party on Wednesday claimed that its week long campaign to organize simultaneous `Booth Sammelan’ across the state was a smashing hit with over 15 lakh members of booth committees and booth in-charges participating in the event. The Sammelan which started on September 1, concluded on Wednesday.
SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said in lucknow that the Sammelan was held in 375 Assemblies and they would be organised at 28 Assembly seats pesently gripped by floods, after September 15.
He said as per information coming from different regions of the state, 3,000 to 4,000 booth committee members participated in each Booth Sammelan.
Chaudhary said that the most remarkable feature was that in each district, local leaders and MlAs participated in the meetings of each Assembly segment. He said that ministers in each district beside their Assembly segment participated in the Sammelan of other Assembly seats in their districts.
The SP spokesman said that the party had deputed leaders for each district as observers and included MPs, MlAs, ministers and senior office bearers.
"The party cadre discussed segment-specific poll strategy during the meetings and also decided to publicise the achievements of the government," said Chaudhary.
