As Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath completes four years in office on March 19, he is ready to go to the people with a report card full of achievements but political pundits believe he has to conquer many challenges before he goes to the polls in 2022.
A 64-page booklet titled 'Chunotiyon main talaashe avsar' (Challenges turned into opportunities) has been prepared by the Information and Publicity Department of UP and it talks about the achievements of the Yogi Adityanath government in various fields.
Yogi Adityanath was sworn in as the 21st chief minister of Uttar Pradesh on March 19, 2017. He is the fourth chief minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party in UP. Before him Kalyan Singh, Ram Prakash Gupta and Rajnath Singh served as chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi is the longest serving chief minister and is likely to complete his term while no other BJP chief minister completed three years in office.
The 64-page booklet talks about many achievements of the Yogi government which include presenting the first paperless budget of Rs 5.5 lakh crore, the largest budget size in the annals of UP. In its economic accomplishments, the book says the Yogi government has taken UP out of the BIMARU state tag as the state's GSDP has gone up in the last four years from Rs 10.9 lakh crore to Rs 21.73 lakh crore.
It says the per capita income has doubled. The government claims that the rate of unemployment has come down from 17.5 per cent to 4.1 per cent in the state.
On the law and order front, the booklet claims that there has been a 45 per cent decline in incidents of rapes, 19.80 per cent in cases of murders, 65.72 per cent in dacoities and 40.20 percent in cases of rioting. It says the state government has adopted zero tolerance towards criminals and mafiosi, and their illegally accumulated assets worth about Rs 1,000 crore have been demolished or confiscated.
On the infrastructure front, the booklet says that work on the metro rail project has already started in Kanpur. Meerut is soon going to get a gift of metro rail and light metro rails will soon be launched in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Jhansi. It says the Purvanchal Expressway will be inaugurated by June this year while Bundelkhand will be operational by the end of this year.
This booklet will be distributed in all gram sabha across the state. The BJP workers will also be given this booklet and they will take it to the masses and apprise the people about the achievements of the Yogi government.
"A special week-long campaign will start from March 19 in which party workers and leaders will hold meetings with people and tell them about the achievements of the state government. We have worked for the welfare of the masses and will tell people about our achievements," BJP State President Swatantra Dev Singh said.
