Social organisation Bondhu Mahal sponsored education of 32 poor students of Anglo-Bengali Boys Inter College and felicitated 10 teachers of state-run primary schools from the money saved from Durga Puja celebrations.
Basic Education Minister Anupama Jaiswal was the chief guest on the occasion. “It is a great endeavour on the part of Bondhu Mahal. Exposing people to education is the greatest puja which members of this organisation are doing earnestly,” Jaiswal said during her address.
She said being the Education Minister in the Yogi government, she understood the plight of people who wanted to educate their children but had limited resources. “We ensure free education in the state-run schools but there are aided or private schools where government aid is not possible,” she pointed out.
“Organisations like Bondhu Mahal are helping the government in spreading the light of knowledge. I appeal to all Durga Puja committees to take a leaf out of Bondhu Mahal and utilise the money they save from celebrations,” she said, adding that felicitation of teachers was also a noble cause because there were many primary teachers who were paying from their own pockets for furniture in schools.
Senior teacher JK Yadav and two students of Anglo-Bengali Boys Inter College received the cheque from the minister. She also felicitated 10 teachers of the state-run schools who excelled in their respective fields. The function was sponsored by Sudhir Sehgal.
