On the occasion of Basant Panchami, social organisation Bondhu Mahal felicitated 11 teachers of state-run primary schools for excelling at the ground level in expanding the light of knowledge among students in villages.
Information Commissioner Narendra Srivastava and Additional Commissioner (Industries) Atal Rai were the chief guests while Maithlisharan ward corporator Dilip Srivastava was also present on the occasion.
“It’s a fact that government teachers working in primary schools are doing a yeoman service even though their work goes unrecognised. Convent and private schools always remain in the limelight because of their approach and access to the media whereas efforts of government teachers, who are the foot soldiers of primary education, go unrecognised,” Srivastava said.
Atal Rai, in his speech, said it is commendable that this social organisation is honouring the unsung heroes of the Education department.
Convenor Sudhir Sehgal said that the selection of teachers was carried out in a transparent manner after evaluating their work. “Bondhu Mahal helps students every year and even sponsors their education. It also honours teachers for their work,” he said.
The teachers who were felicitated included Archana Mishra, Upma, Renu Singh, Ruhi Siddiqui, Renuka Yadav, Jaidevi, Rajshri Mahajan, Chandrakanta , Amita Sachan, Kiran, and Archana Mishra-II.
