In a probable case of honour killing, bodies of a teenage couple were found hanging from a tree in Kannuaj on Monday morning. The police rushed to the spot after being informed and sent the bodies for autopsy.

As per reports, Sunil Singh (23) of Atrauli hamlet of Chibramau (Kannauj) was having an affair with his neighbour Sunita Saksena (20) for over a year. As they belonged to different castes, the girl’s family objected to the liaison. Butthis did not stop the young lovers from meeting each other. Assessing family resistance, the couple decided to elope a fortnight back and got married elsewhere.

The matter took an ugly turn on Monday morning when a villager spotted the bodies of Sunil and Sunita hanging from a tree in Kakraiya hamlet of Chibramau. He later informed the police and their families.

While the girl’s family claimed that both had committed suicide, the boy’s family alleged that Sunita’s brother had been threatening them and Sunil that if they did not somehow snap ties with Sunita, then they be ready to face the consequences. They suspected that it was Sunita’s family which killed Sunil and Sunita and hanged the bodies to make it up like suicide. The police were waiting for the autopsy report before initiating any action.

Meanwhile in Kushninagar, a man brutally hacked his wife and two children to death and later ended his life. One of the daughters, somehow saved her life by slipping out of the home.

As per reports, Sheshnath Singh of Hata Kushinagar said that he married off his daughter Suman with Madhav Murari Singh in 2003 and the couple had three children – daughter Madhvi (12) and sons Mitram Singh (10) and Kunnu Singh (3).  Singh said that Madhav worked as a pharmacist in Kasanganj health centre (Kushinagar) and the family lived near Bawali police outpost on Ramkola Road in Kushinagar.

Singh said that Madhav Murari filed a divorce suit in Padrauna court over differences with Suman. Against this, Suman too moved court demanding alimony. The court fixed July 25 to decide on the issue.

On Monday morning, Suman’s daughter Madhvi called Singh up over phone to inform that her father had hacked herm other and brothers to death and that she managed to escape and save her life. Singh immediately informed the police and rushed to the spot only to find that Madhav too had ended his life by consuming poison. All four bodies weresent for autopsy and investigations were on.
