The body of a young woman with a slit throat was found lying in bushes on the roadside in Agra on Wednesday morning.
Reports said that some passers-by saw the body of a woman lying near the Malpura-Raehta canal on the southern bypass of Agra. The victim, in her mid-twenties, was wearing a green suit and a mangalsutra around her neck with ‘ARS’ written on her right hand.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, Sonam Kumar said that efforts were being made to ascertain the identity of the victim.
“A case is registered in this regard and her photo has been circulated in the WhatsApp group in the police stations of the commissionerate and surrounding districts,” she said.
Meanwhile, in another incident in New Agra, the body of a 40-year-old unidentified man was found in a drain between Janata Quarter and Abul Ullah Dargah on Tuesday evening.
According to the police, the body seems to be at least four days old and the face has been mutilated.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Syed Areeb Ahmed reached the spot along with the forensic team. A case was registered and efforts were on to identify the victim.
In another shocking incident, a man killed his wife and eight-month-old daughter with an axe over a minor dispute in Budeli village of Dataganj Kotwali area of Badaun district on Wednesday morning.
The police arrested the accused but he refused to give any reason behind the killing.
As per reports, the accused, Akhilesh, a resident of Budeli village, works as a labourer in Delhi and had returned to the village a few days ago.
On Tuesday night, Akhilesh had a dispute with his wife, Khushbu, and he spent the night at his farm.
On Wednesday morning he returned from the farm and picked the fight again with his wife and attacked her with an axe, following which she died. Their daughter, Srishti, too was seriously injured during the incident and later succumbed to injuries.
The police registered a case and arrested the accused.
